One of the biggest opportunities for networking and landing an internship, part-time or full-time job is coming up just around the corner. Read on to find out what CareerFest is and how it will benefit you.
What is it?
CareerFest is a state-wide job and internship fair held in Columbus Ohio by the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges. It hosts over 100 employers from various industries looking for interns and job applicants.
When it is?
CareerFest will be Friday, February 7, 2014 from 10am to 3pm in the Aladdin Shrine Center on Stelzer Road.
Why You Should Go
1. Over 100 employers will be there.
For those of you thinking about jobs and internships, this is HUGE. I know it’s hard to pursue just one employer with a full course load and extra activities. So isn’t trading a few hours out of one day to make a great impression on a variety of employers and set yourself on the path of career success worth it
2. There’s a huge variety of employers.
Not only is there a high volume of employers, there are a lot of different employers at CareerFest. Some of the industries represented this year will be: Education, Law, Logistics, Leadership and Management, Marketing and Sales, Medical, Financial, Accounting, and more! You can check out the current list here.
Even if you don’t see your intended industry on the list, employers are still registering so there’s a good chance it will be before CareerFest happens in February.
3. It’s great practice.
You may know that you are not ready to look for a job yet. That’s okay, but wouldn’t it be nice to feel prepared when you do have to start looking? This is where CareerFest can help you. Speaking and engaging with the employers at CareerFest is a great, low-pressure way to practice for those interviews that we’ll all eventually have.
4. It can help narrow your focus.
Whether you’re at the point to look for a job or not, speaking with professionals in your prospective field can help you get a better feel for what that industry is like. Not sure what job you want to pursue after graduation? Then CareerFest will be really beneficial for you! Again, trading a few hours to talk to a number of employers in different industries? Sounds like a simple way to help narrow your own postgrad career goals.
5. It’s free!
We’re all on a budget, so wouldn’t it be nice to go one place to talk to a bunch of potential employers? CareerFest means: one trip, one professional outfit, one (not even full) day, for access to 100 representatives who are searching for potential employees! This free opportunity could be a stepping stone to a great career!
So don’t wait – register for CareerFest today!
